Hey Divya, Psychology is a scientific study of the human mind and its functioning. If one opts for psychology as a subject to study, it will help an individual in improving their interpersonal communication skills. To pursue psychology in higher education, the general requirement is that one is expected to have taken some previous classes on psychology. The levels of degree that one can get are • Associates in Psychology - The time frame for this degree is two years. It takes nearly four to six years to complete the degree. • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in psychology - It is the degree with more involvement in the research. It takes nearly six to seven years to complete this research-oriented degree. Psychology is a very vast subject, so there are different sub-areas within the discipline. Let’s discuss some of the popular areas which one can pursue as their field for specialization • Clinical Psychology — It is the largest branch of psychology that deals with severe mental issues, cause for the mental illness and giving the appropriate treatment for it. • Counseling Psychology — This branch focuses on the techniques to help people to work through the psychological stress. • Educational Psychology — This branch is used in educational setup, basically to check what and what not work in teaching • Developmental — It studies the way people function in different phases of their life • Cognitive — It examines the learning, attention, and memory to determine how the brain performs. • Social — It focuses on the behavior, characteristics, and traits of the people in different social situations. • Health — It focuses on the overall fitness, i.e., emotional, behavioral, and social health of both body and mind.
